Sweet Potato Base
- 2-3 Medium sized Japanese sweet potatoes
- 1-2 Tablespoons Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste

Sweet Potatoes
Start by preheating the oven at 425 degrees fahrenheit.
Use washed sweet potatoes and slice them into quarter inch pieces.
Coat the slices in olive oil then place them on the baking sheet.
Generously season one side with salt and pepper then place in the oven. Roast for 25 minutes.
Meat Patties
Take one-half pound of ground beef and mix the seasonings into the meat until well incorporated.
Form the meat into 16 small patties, about 1 tablespoon per patty.
Bake them in the oven at 425 degrees fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
Balsamic Onion Jam
Cover a small skillet or sauce pan with olive oil and turn onto medium-low heat.
Chop the onion into bite-sized pieces and put into the hot pan.
Sauté for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally and add olive oil as needed so the onions do not burn.
After the onions reach a caramel color add the honey and balsamic vinegar and cook for another 5 minutes. The balsamic vinegar and honey will begin to thicken and create a jam-like texture when finished.
Assembly
When the sweet potatoes and meat are done baking, take out of the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
Assemble each slider and top with the balsamic onion jam. If you want to be extra fancy you can garnish your sliders with fresh rosemary.
You can use different types of potatoes for this recipe. The most important thing to consider when picking potatoes is the circumference of the potatoes. You want them to be fat enough to make a good size slider, about 1.5-2 inches.
I highly recommend using only yellow onions for the onion jam. Purple onions don’t caramelize quite the same and yellow onions have a sharper, less sweet flavor.
You can also use different types of ground meat. I used ground beef because I wanted a more robust flavor for my slider, but this would also pair great with ground pork, turkey, or chicken.
