What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect personal data and derivative data from our website users to improve their experience from the website. Personal data such as name, email, phone number, and other similar data is only received voluntarily through opt-in’s such as newsletters, promotional material contact forms, and comments. Derivative data, such as IP address, dates and time content was accessed, and pages visited, is collected through the website.  This data is used to help track trends in the website and improve content and reach. 

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

When comment ratings on recipes are enabled we store the rating a user has given to a recipe along with the personal data WordPress core stores.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms and opt-in’s

If you submit a contact form or sign up for an op-in we receive your first name, last name, and an email address to contact you by. Questions, comments, and requests sent in contact forms are saved until the message is responded to. Names and email addresses received from contact forms and opt-in’s may be saved for marketing purposes. You may request to be removed from the email list at anytime by clicking the provided link in the emails. 

Newsletter

You may decide to sign up for our newsletter which is used to share information and for marketing purposes. In which case, we will receive your first and last name as well as an email address to contact you by. All emails are imbedded with data that collects information such as if you open the email, the date and time the email was opened, and what links you clicked in the email. This information is used to improve the quality of our newsletter and the effectiveness of our marketing. You have the ability to opt-out of this email at any time via the unsubscribe link included in the email.  

WP Recipe Maker 

With the Recipe Submission feature personal data can be collected, depending on the fields that were added to the form. This can include the user email and name. When using the reCAPTCHA feature you will be agreeing to their terms of use and privacy policy.

Who we share your data with

At this time sonorainbold.com do not actively share your data with any third party providers. However, this is subject to change to improve business practices and promote user ease.  

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Otherwise we will not share, sell, or offer information without consent, unless in the case of merging business or a part of our business being gained by a third party. In either of these event users will be notified before the information is shared. 

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

On the WP Recipe Maker our cookies are stored for 30 days. User submitted data is stored indefinitely in the local database.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

Our policy in the event of a security breach is to notify legal authorities as soon as possible and all users via email within 48 hours of our knowledge of the security breach. We will notify users what information might be at jeopardy from the breach. We will take extra measures from that point to determine how to bolster our security and ensure your private information remains safe in the future.
