In my first postpartum I had really unrealistic ex In my first postpartum I had really unrealistic expectations for how fast I would get back to my normal tasks around the house like laundry, cooking, and cleaning, you know the drill.

My husband helped a lot with those things after the birth, but I had a hard time not feeling antsy because *all* I felt like I was ever doing was holding baby or breastfeeding a baby. And believe me, that can feel like doing a whole lot of nothing.

I thought that you were just supposed to "bounce back," and put an unrealistic pressure on myself to get back to "normal" life. I thought since I would be home all day with a baby that it would be easy to do a few things around the house.

I was wrong.

I feel like our culture tells us that our babies don't really need us. Once they come out of the womb you can give them a bottle stick them in a crib and be on your merry way.

But what I learned is that my baby, who was physically connected to me for nine months, needed my constant presence just as much once she was born.

All that to say, this second postpartum I've reframed my expectations and it has made such a big difference. Instead of stressing about what isn't getting done, I'm resting in my current responsibility-- nurturing a little human. It's a short and special season.

Don't beat yourself up postpartum, don't try to do more-- instead: rest, heal, recover. Just hold that precious baby of yours, and enjoy your new job description 💞

This postpartum season has me just about ready to This postpartum season has me just about ready to have 5 more kids, buy a couple acres of land, and start milking a goat🐐

And I just wish I could slow down time a little bit, and savor every moment. I have a feeling I'm going to miss this someday.

In case you didn't know, all your beans really wan In case you didn't know, all your beans really want in their life is to grow up to be a lil' sprout. Be nice to your beans, soak and sprout them.

But seriously, when you soak and sprout legumes it makes them so much better for you!

✅Neutralizes anti nutrients like phytic acid
✅ Makes them easier on the digestion
✅ Increases the bioavailable nutrients
✅ Makes your husband less gassy

It's super easy to do and they'll cook faster! I normally throw mine in the crockpot overnight and we'll eat them throughout the week. It's a great way to get the most nutrients out of your food and with just a bit of planning makes a great meal prep side.

Let me tell you guys, the urge to nest is no joke. Let me tell you guys, the urge to nest is no joke. I'll let projects sit on my Pinterest board for months and the moment I'm pregnant it's like all hands on deck! Just stick a paint brush in my hand and call me tropical Joanna Gaines.

It's a talent really.

I think part of it too is when I was pregnant with my first baby I felt an even stronger desire to make my house feel like a home. I had been living in my house, but it still didn't feel permanent. I didn't feel like investing time or money in the house (to give some background we live in a rent house in Honduras).

When I found out I was pregnant I realized that we were going to be in this house for a while. All the projects I had been afraid to do (like painting walls), I decided it was finally time to do it.

And I'm so glad I did. Every project I've done has been so much fun to do and the finished product has brought me so much joy.

Just do the project. You won't regret it.
