Tips & Tricks for Making this AIP Chicken Breast Recipe

What type of skillet should I use for this AIP Honey Garlic Chicken?

Cast Iron is by far my favorite type of skillet to cook with, and I think makes the best AIP Honey Garlic Chicken. I have cooked with a lot of different skillets in my day– stainless steel, ceramic coated, non-stick– and none of them are like cast iron. Cast Iron skillets cook like a dream and brown everything nice and evenly. It naturally creates a non-stick coating so they are really easy to clean and get better the more you use them AND you can bake in them too! Lodge is the brand I like to use and they are very affordable. You can grab a skillet here!

Can I change the seasonings in this AIP chicken breast recipe

In this recipe I use rosemary, but you can easily substitute that for sage, basil, or thyme. If you don’t want a strong herb flavor you can take them out all together. For a more Asian flavored chicken you can take out the rosemary and add ginger and turmeric. If you want something more Mediterranean, remove the rosemary and add some lemon. This chicken really has a lot of room for experimentation!

Can I use another cut of chicken in this AIP Honey Garlic Chicken recipe?

You can use boneless skinless chicken thighs in this recipe instead of chicken breast. But since chicken thighs are fattier, you will not need to use as much oil. Chicken thighs will splatter more while you are cooking so just be careful during the cooking process.

What can I pair this AIP chicken breast recipe with to make a full meal?

This chicken is great because it can be cooked up so quickly, but man cannot live on chicken alone! This chicken goes great with just about everything. You can pair it with Honey Glazed Brussel Sprouts, AIP Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Brussel Sprout & Bacon Kale Salad, or Roasted Root Veggies. If you don’t have a lot of time to cook you could even steam some veggies in the microwave.

Lets Make this AIP Honey Garlic Chicken!

Start by heating a skillet on medium high heat and add a generous glug of olive oil, about 1 Tablespoon. I think this recipe turns out the best cooked on a cast iron skillet. Lodge is my favorite brand! This is the skillet I used to cook my chicken.

While the skillet is heating, cut the chicken breast into bite sized pieces. I like to use kitchen scissors and add the chicken to the skillet while I cut it. These are similar to the kitchen scissors I use.

Once you have added the chicken to the skillet, stir to make sure the pieces are evenly covered in oil. Cook on the skillet for about 5-6 minutes until the chicken starts to brown.

Next add the seasonings and herbs to the chicken and stir well. Cook on the skillet for another 3-4 minutes. The chicken should look almost done.

Finally add the honey and stir until the chicken is well coated in the honey. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the chicken reaches a golden caramelly color. The chicken will be done when you cut a piece in half and it is cooked through the center.

Serve the AIP Honey Garlic Chicken immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. This recipe serves four.
